About Social Services
Social workers at Ranken Jordan - A Pediatric Specialty Hospital are here to offer patients and families emotional, financial, and social support in order to enhance patient and family adjustment to a pediatric illness. We are available to families during normal business hours 8:30 am – 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. In the event of emergency, a member of the social work department is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week. You can contact Social Services at (314) 872-6459.
Social workers at Ranken Jordan provide a variety of services to meet the needs of patients and families. Social workers are often one of the first people families meet when being admitted to the hospital. The social work staff provides tours for families prior to or upon admission and explains to families all the helpful information one should know about visiting and staying at our facility.
Integral components of a social worker’s role at Ranken Jordan include assessment, referral and provision of resources to meet psychosocial needs, care coordination from admission to discharge, advocacy, and supportive counseling. During hospitalizations, social workers can be found interacting with patients and families throughout the building and providing necessary assistance with transportation and financial concerns that often come with having a child in a hospital.
