Are your doctors on site 24/7?
Yes. Doctors are typically on site 12-16 hours a day. Doctors are also available on-call if they are not on duty.
Do kids live at Ranken Jordan?
No. Ranken Jordan is not a nursing home or residential placement for children. Ranken Jordan serves as a transitional rehabilitation pediatric hospital. Our goal is to treat children and their families so they can return home. The average length of stay is about 48 days.
Do you treat mental illness or chemical dependency?
Yes. Patients generally are not admitted to Ranken Jordan for this reason, but these can be secondary diagnosis or contributing factors to their illness or injury.
Do parents have a place to stay?
Yes. Ranken Jordan has partnered with
Equis Hospitality Management, which runs several hotels in St. Louis, and
HavenHouse. We do not have housing on Ranken Jordan's campus, but have plans for this in the future. Currently one family member can sleep in the patient's room or in the family lounge.

We have no formal connection with Ranken Technical School. However, our founder,
Mary Ranken-Jordan was the niece of David Ranken Jr, the school's founder.
How many patients are at Ranken Jordan?
We have 34 inpatient beds. 16 are designed for infants and toddlers. However, we don't always have 34 patients at Ranken Jordan at one time and this does not include our outpatient program.
What kind of injuries do the patients have?
We treat many kinds of illnesses and injuries including:
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Spinal cord injuries
- Burns
- Congenital defects
- Orthopedic needs
- Physical abuse and neglect
- Prenatal drug exposure
- Failure to thrive
- Complications of prematurity
- Respiratory disorders

Mary Ranken-Jordan in 1941. This name is still in use as a link to our trust established by Mary Ranken-Jordan.
