We really value our Volunteers at Ranken Jordan. We would not be able to accomplish as much as we do without them. When you think of volunteering you think of all the fun things that come along with it: playing with children, rocking babies to sleep, helping children learn and play. But that is not all! Our Volunteers help with everything. From the necessary but mundane (filing) to the downright scary (cleaning out the employee lounge fridge!) our Volunteers show daily how committed they are to the hospital, the children, and families that stay with us. That is why Ranken Jordan celebrates our Volunteers' dedication with an appreciation event for them.
This year we held our Volunteer Appreciation event on Friday, April 25th and were able to recognize all their hard work. This year's theme was "Did we tell you how lucky we are" because of all the wonderful things that our volunteers do for Ranken Jordan each and every day. The party was Dr. Seuss themed and we had a wubulous time!
Every year at the event we recognize the Volunteers for various levels of service. In light of the Dr.Suess theme this year we called the Volunteer of the Year the “Cat in the Hat” and the Rookie Volunteer Award this year was “SAM-I-AM.” These awards are given to those who show exemplary commitment and dedication to the children. This year Patsy Williams was nominated as the “Cat in the Hat” Award and Tom Plank for the “SAM-I-AM” Award. They both go above and beyond the call of duty and are both extraordinary people. Congratulations to them both.
If you look to the pictures below you will notice a picture of Chief Operating Officer Brett Moorehouse with Volunteer Marilyn presenting a check for $327,000. This check represents the actual gift of service the volunteers provided to Ranken Jordan in dollars from April of 2007 to April of 2008.
